Why this Blog

If anything has developed so fast in my life time its been the speed of communication at every level I can imagine.
I grew up sitting around the radio with my family in the evenings listening to the news and live radio broadcast from the Lone Ranger to the Shadow. I recall when my Dad brought home our first TV, a black and white RCA, and how cool it was when they came out with the first transistor radios. I would head to bed early to lay there with ear plugs in and listen to Wolfman Jack and dream about all the wonderful places and people outside of the small farming community I was raised in.  Today with high speed internet an event can happen on the other side of the world and we can not only hear about it but watch actual video of it taking place in just a few seconds. Yet with all this powerful communication surrounding us I'm still amazed at how in so many small communities the number one level of communication is rumor control.
How do folks hear about what is going on around a small community? Well usually it goes by word of mouth and along with it any embellishments one can add, and if the tale is a little controversial you can bet for sure there will be everyone's twist added to it. Remember the children's game where you would start by whispering something to the person next to you and they would pass it on to the next until you got to the last person who would say what it was? Never was the same as the original was it? Same goes with gossip and local small town rumor control, only a fool would take such communication as being reliable.
Then there is the, "I thought you told them"and reply, "No I thought you did" occurrence that happens too often. So my point? Even in this fast communicating world we live in some how folks even in small town USA have lost the ability to communicate with neighbors and with community, accurately and conscientiously to one degree or another. Maybe it's time to turn off the TV?
So here's a way to get your point out and communicate to the community. There will be posts made on different subject matters concerning the city, local city government activity and local events etc. So drop in and share your views. No comments with vulgar, slander or derogatory statements will be posted, and refrain from gossip/hearsay,  remember "statements made without facts can as easily be ignored without facts".
